T&T Trading Cards: How
They Work
Summary: T&T Trading Cards are an incentive to motivate your
clubbers toward handbook progress and completion. Kids can collect
and trade the cards with the goal of building a set of one (or
more) of the T&T characters’ cards – a full character
set contains six cards (six Leah cards, six Streamwood cards, etc.).
Each card includes a unique code, so that when the codes from a
complete card set (six cards of one character) are entered at www.awana.org/ttcards,
the clubber will have access to special character-themed games
and other fun content.
Please review the following information for answers to frequently
asked questions. If you have other questions, please send them
to tt@awana.org.
WHY should I use the cards?
- To motivate your clubbers toward Scripture memory!
- Keep in mind:
Even though our goal — motivating kids
to memorize Scripture — is a serious one, how we go about
motivating them is all about fun! So enjoy the cards with your
clubbers, and remember that there’s nothing you or the
clubber needs to complete, sign off, etc. with the cards. All
you need to do is encourage them to have fun collecting and trading
the cards!
WHO are the cards for?
T&T Trading Cards are designed to inspire T&T
clubbers to keep progressing through their handbooks. In addition,
we hope they will also help several other audiences:
- To better equip T&T leaders and directors with an exciting new motivational tool in their ministry.
- To encourage
clubbers’ parents as they see their kids
excited about progressing through the handbook.
- To attract the
attention and interest of clubbers’ friends toward T&T.
WHAT are the cards like?
- The complete set contains 42 unique cards
(six cards each of the seven T&T characters: Arthur, Erik,
Leah, Carlos, Christy, Jalissa and Streamwood).
- The cards are the same size
as typical sports collector cards and feature original, full-color
character artwork on one side and fun content on the other: jokes,
character fun facts and off-the-wall “would you rather” questions
that kids can ask and answer with each other.
WHEN do I use the cards?
- We recommend that you award a pack of cards to a
clubber completing:
- The Start Zone (You may choose to retroactively
award a pack of cards to clubbers who completed Start Zone
in prior years in order to keep things fair.)
- Each of the Discoveries
or Challenges in the books.
- Of course, you have the flexibility
to use the card packs for additional motivation and recognition.
(One idea would be to use the cards to recognize progress
through the Silver and Gold extra-credit sections.) Just
make sure you’re
recognizing a legitimate achievement in order to uphold the
value of the cards as an incentive.
HOW do the cards work?
- The cards are packaged randomly, eight
cards per pack. Note that the cards do
NOT correspond with specific handbooks — any T&T clubber can collect or trade any of the cards with any
other T&T clubber.
(We designed the cards this way to promote
maximum interaction between all of your clubbers — to make this a “club-wide” attraction.)
- Every
card includes a unique code that, when used in conjunction with
the other five codes from one character’s
set of cards, allows kids to access special character-based games
and fun stuff at www.awana.org/ttcards. They simply enter the
six codes in the boxes at the bottom of the screen. And these
codes are NOT one-time-use-only. Clubbers can go back to play
again and again.
- Additionally, special Streamwood Gold Cards
are included in approximately one percent of the total number
of card packs. (Because of the random nature
of the card packaging, however, there is no guarantee that buying
a given number of packs will get one of your clubbers a Gold
Card.) Kids who do
receive Gold Cards can use the unique code on the card to access
special content at www.awana.org/ttcards.
(As you introduce the T&T Trading Cards to your club, announce
that anyone receiving a Gold Card should inform you if they have
received one and hold onto it (i.e. don’t trade it) if
they want the Gold Prize Pack.)
HOW does the Gold Prize Pack work?
- Gold Card holders who finish their book will be eligible
to receive a Gold Prize Pack from Awana. (This is not a pack
of cards, but an actual pack of gift items straight from headquarters!)
- Note
that the clubber must finish the book to be eligible for the
Gold Prize Pack.
- Clubbers who started the year part-way through
a book from the previous year must do the
equivalent of one year’s
work (between two books) to be eligible for the Gold Prize Pack.
For example – if
a clubber finished last club year on Book 2, Discovery 6:6, he/she
must go through Book 3, Discovery 6:5 in the next book in order
to qualify for the Gold Prize Pack.
- Here’s what you do if
you have a Gold Card holder in your club:
- Make sure the clubber
understands the book completion requirement and that you
(or another T&T leader) will oversee the process
of awarding the Gold Prize Pack.
- Clubbers may log into the Gold
Card portion of www.awana.org/ttcards with their Gold Card
code anytime after they receive the card to enjoy special
content. Part of that page will include directions for the
clubbers to come to their T&T leader to complete
the Gold Prize Pack process. Here’s
what you, the leader, need to do:
- Beginning January 7, 2008 – once
the clubber has completed the handbook (or the equivalent
amount of work between two books) – you
can visit http://www.awana.org/powerupmap/mapform.aspx to
formally qualify the clubber for the Gold Prize Pack. All
submissions must be received no later than May 31, 2008 and
cannot be accepted after this date. You will be
asked to submit the following information:
- Clubber’s
first name, last name initial and hometown (e.g. Jimmy
J., Warrenville, IL).
- The unique code on the Gold Card.
- Your club’s Awana registration
number. If you do not know this number, see your Awana
commander or secretary.
- Your name, contact information (including e-mail
address) and the address you want the prize pack mailed
to.
- We
cannot interact directly with the child; the prize
pack will be mailed to you for presentation to the
child.
- We require an
e-mail address from you for any necessary further
correspondence.
- You
will receive a confirmation e-mail upon submitting the
web form.
- You
will receive the Gold Prize Pack in the mail from Awana (at no
charge) for presentation to the clubber. All Gold cards submitted
between January 7 and March 31, 2008, will be shipped out at
the beginning of April so that you can get them before the end
of your club year. During April and May, we will process your
submissions every two weeks (on the 15th and 30th of each month).
